5.25 for for 4 years is less term and less money than he wants. Eriksson would be a foold (and I hope he is) to accept that offer.
What I'm wondering is why they don't offer a back-heavy deal. Something that pays like 5, 5, 5, 7, 7, 7. That way he isn't so expensive while Chara and Seids are still on the books... Or it's averaged isn't it? I can't remember...

Well then, there's nothing Boston can do, if that's all Sweeney is offering, Eriksson better say no quickly so we can trade him within the next few hours. He's not taking a million less than he wants for 2 years less than he wants. Sweeney needs to play some GM mode. Let's all pitch in and buy Don an xbox.
As a side note, there better be no acquisition of Russel or Hamhuis. Calgary wants 2 2nd rounders for Russel. Not sure what Vancouver wants, but Hamhuis doesn't do anything for our future unless he gets signed.

Right, what I thought.

I think the Don can buy himself an xbox, that dude makes more in a year than I will see in my entire lifetime.
There is a lot of potential for good trades to happen. I hope they get a first rounder for Loui and a prospect. Similar to what the Jets got for Ladd. Then they can flip a first rounder (or two depending on the player) to land a big D man. Its going to be an interesting day, just hope Sweeney doesnt leave fans disappointed.

It may be interesting to have 3 1st rounders again this year however. 6 1st rounders in 2 years? That is a dangerous future. Assuming the prospect is a good D prospect. But apparently Don has said he wants a good player and prospect, assuming he isn't looking for picks.

Assuming we drafted well. Only time will tell. If we do end up with 3 first rounders again, it would be nice if they traded a couple of them to move up in the draft and get an impact prospect. One of those top 5 guys would be really nice to have. This draft isnt nearly as deep as the last one.

Sounds like they want at least a current NHLer back, presumably because they still want to make a playoff push.
If Donny really did only offer 4x5.25, good for him. Chiarelli would have gone 6x6 with full no-movement by now. Hopefully any more negotiations with Loui today are about AAV and not term. You can budge on price, but stick with 4yrs Don.

This is exactly why im OK with trying to keep Eriksson, and trying to add a guy like Hamhuis. B's already have good futures at all positions and have two more firsts next year. Why not spend a 2nd and a guy like Koko/Griffith for Hamhuis and just give it their best kick at the can?

They don't have the money to take hamhuis though... They would need to send someone back. (I believe, didn't actually crunch numbers)
